Darlings Honey is purveyor of premium stingless bee honey harvested from Trigona Itama stingless bees – found in less than 10 countries worldwide, including Malaysia. Stingless bee honey is a nutritional powerhouse with a host of medicinal properties as well as having anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anti-diabetic, and antioxidant benefits according to this study[i].

Itama stingless bee honey is known for its more complex flavour profile, with a mild sourness that adds depth to the sweetness of honey. It also has only one-third the Glycemic Index (GI) compared to manuka honey, thanks to its low sugar content, making it suitable for consumption by any one of any age, including diabetics.

Every single bottle of Darlings Itama Honey is 100% pure, natural, raw and organic honey. It has zero processing and is bottled without any additives, colourings, sweeteners or preservatives – straight from “Forest-to-Bottle” to You, without adding or taking away anything. Darlings Honey recently received the Consumer’s Choice Award from the National Consumer Action Council better known by its Malay name, Majlis Tindakan Pengguna Negara (MTPN). As part of the award nomination, Darlings Honey went through a rigorous audit process to ascertain if it complied with MTPN’s stringent standards. The award is also recognition of the trust that has been placed in the brand by its customers.

Kolej Vokasional (Pertanian) Chenor wins 2022 DIY Made Simple Competition

The idea of a sterilisation tool cabinet called Ultraviolet Cabinet (UVCab) proved to be a winner for the ten-man team from Kolej Vokasional (Pertanian) Chenor, Pahang - the submission was awarded the First Place in the latest edition of the ‘DIY Made Simple’ competition.

The ‘DIY Made Simple’ competition is an annual nationwide competition that aims to raise awareness of the importance of building a sustainable culture amongst young Malaysians.  The competition is jointly organised by home improvement retailer MR D.I.Y. Group [M] Berhad, together with Universiti Malaya.

Announcing the winning team at a prize-giving ceremony held at Universiti Malaya today, MR D.I.Y. Group Chairman, Dato’ Azlam Shah Alias said, “At MR D.I.Y., we are always looking for ways to add value to the communities in which we operate. The ‘DIY Made Simple’ competition has enabled us to nurture a culture of sustainability amongst young Malaysians, by inspiring new ideas on ways to reuse, recycle, regenerate and upcycle. The impact of this programme has been in no small way due to the rich and fruitful partnership we have enjoyed with Universiti Malaya and the UMCares team.  We have, since 2017, seen a breadth of innovative ideas and sustainable projects that have benefitted school ecosystems nationwide.

“We are therefore happy to announce that we are committing to continue the ‘DIY Made Simple’ partnership with Universiti Malaya for another three years, for the 2023-2025 competitions,” he announced.  “With the Ministry of Education [MOE] in full support of the programme, we hope more schools across the country will participate in the competition via their co-curricular clubs like Kelab Alam Sekitar, Kelab Kemahiran Hidup and Kelab Senibina. This move will ensure the sustainability of the efforts of previous cohorts and the overall programme.”

This year's theme, ‘Facing The New Normal: School Transformation,’ called for students to find ways to improve their school facilities, whilst adapting to the new post-pandemic environment. Participation was in three phases, with the first phase involving the submission of video entries. In 2022, a total of 82 entries were received.

A panel of judges comprising representatives from Universiti Malaya (UM) and MR D.I.Y. then evaluated these submissions and shortlisted 47 teams for a proposal and prototype presentation in the second phase. In the third and final phase, sixteen finalists were selected to work with lecturers from UM’s Faculty of Built Environment to transform their school ideas into reality.  These were then showcased before the Grand Finale today.

Commenting on the partnership and competition, Universiti Malaya Vice Chancellor, YBhg. Professor Dato’ Ir. Dr. Mohd Hamdi Abd Shukor said that UM greatly appreciates MR D.I.Y.'s agreement to continue cooperation in organizing this one-of-its-kind competition-based program.  He agreed that this programme is unique in its own way as it shows a cycle of four-way cooperation (university-industry-government-community) that is synergistic and mutually beneficial to all parties involved.

“The "DIY Made Simple" programme offers a platform for school students to apply some of the subjects learnt at school.  Most importantly, the students succeeded in producing very creative, innovative and out of the box ideas,” said Professor Dato' Ir.  Dr. Mohd Hamdi.

Professor Anuar Alias, Jury Head of the DIY Made Simple competition, who is also the Dean of the Faculty of Built Environment at Universiti Malaya, said, "I am very impressed with the ideas produced by the school students;  there are some that I feel have the potential to be showcased at innovation competitions of a much a higher level. “

As recipients of the First Prize, the team from Kolej Vokasional (Pertanian) Chenor, Pahang took home RM4,500 in cash, while SMK Tunku Besar Burhanuddin, Negeri Sembilan took home the Second Prize comprising  RM3,000 in cash.  SMK Darul Aman, Alor Setar, Kedah, was awarded the Third Prize of RM1,500 in cash. SM Setiabudi, Kuala Lumpur came Fourth Place with RM1,000 in cash, and SM Agama Teluk Kemang, Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, the Fifth Place with RM500 in cash. In addition, each team also received MR D.I.Y. cash vouchers, a certificate, and a trophy.

SMK St. Anthony, Sarikei, Sarawak was awarded RM500 in cash for having the most-liked video on YouTube during Phase 1 of the competition.

SMK Tun Habab, Kota Tinggi, Johor,  SM Sains Pasir Puteh, Kelantan, SMK Cyberjaya, Selangor, SMK Tun Perak, Rawang, Selangor, SM Arab Asaiyidah Khadijah, Merlimau, Melaka, SMK Agama Sultan Muhammad, Batu Berendam, Melaka, SM Sains Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, SM Agama Persekutuan Bentong, Bentong, Pahang, SMK Abdul Rahman Talib, Kuantan, Pahang, SMK Riam, Miri, Sarawak, and SMK Chung Hua (CF), Miri, Sarawak were each awarded consolation prizes of RM400 in MR D.I.Y. cash vouchers, a certificate, and a trophy.

Since it first started in 2017, the DIY Made Simple competition has reached more than 3,000 students in over 300 schools nationwide, with over 300 projects submitted for review.
